Our community association has been awarded a Safe Roads grant from the Alberta Traffic Safety Fund! We received the amount of $3900 to help bring pedestrian education and awareness to the students at St. Matthew’s School!
The month of April was busy for St Matthew’s School as we started our Pedestrian Safety Campaign.
Tony Churchill donated his time and came to St Matthew’s to speak to grades 3-8. He had an engaging presentation. Tony is the lead Senior Transportation Engineer for the City of Calgary. He also leads a team within Roads Traffic Engineering.
St Matthew’s also held a contest for the students. The contest accepted entries in the 3 age groups; division 1, 2 and junior high. There were some great entries and the winners have been chosen! First place will win a bike from Bike Bros in Cochrane! May is traffic safety month for Calgary and this contest has brought out some creative ideas from students that would help make our roads safer. We are excited to share their ideas with Tony! At the end of May, the prizes will be awarded to the students and the younger classes will have field trips to Safety City!
