At last, here is the completed Masterplan for the Flint Park Revitalization:
Members of the Fairview Community Association board, as well as a committee of residents have been hard at work this Winter and Spring to come up with an awesome idea of how to transform the under-utilized area at the Southwest end of Flint Park into a place that can be enjoyed by people of all ages. As you can see the complete design features an asphalt pump track, 2 giant climbing boulders, and intentional seating and gathering areas for parents and spectators to gather around. The direction taken for the design was based on feedback received at the Bocce and BBQ event that took place in June 2018.
Currently we have secured all of the required funding for the pump track portion, and a good portion of what is required for the bouldering area.
A very special thanks to The Parks Foundation Calgary for their generosity in awarding our project their Conceptual Drawing Grant with a value of $5,000, and their Building Communities Grant with a value of $25,000. Their support ensures that Fairview can see Calgary’s first community led pump track this summer.
We’d also like to thank the team at NAK Design Strategies who produced this great design at a reduced cost through in-kind donation of many, many hours of landscape architect work.
We hope to have this project underway by mid-Summer 2019, and we may require volunteers for some of the build days. If you’re interested, please watch the Fairview website and Facebook page for updates, or you can email us.
