The Fairview Community Association has a very important fundraising event coming up in January and we need your help!

When: Wednesday and Thursday, January 23rd and 24th

Where: Deerfoot Inn and Casino

What is required?

We require about 40 volunteers, each working roughly 5 or 9 hour shifts. Volunteers must be 18 years or older. No experience is required and volunteer jobs are extremely easy with lots of down time. A meal is provided for volunteers and reasonable travel and babysitting expenses are also covered. Approximate shifts times are: 11:00am to 7:30pm; 6:45pm to 3:30am; and 11:00pm to 3:30am.

How can you get involved?

Call Dave at 403-454-8327 or contact by email.

Why is it so important?

This is by far the biggest fundraising event for this community. We typically receive $65,000-70,000 (!) from this two day event, requiring only about 40 volunteers. It would be very hard to ever raise this kind of money with local events. This money is spent on things to make this community a better place!

What have casino funds been spent on?

Since our last casino in the summer of 2017, casino funds have been spent on our Fawn Playground rebuild, previous public skating and shinny hockey ice rental, advertising expenses for our various community events, our Fairview Family Festival and Film Night and a small portion towards operating expenses of the community association including insurance, office rent, printing and mailing expenses

What are the plans for future casino funds?

The community association is continually evaluating possible projects and events/programs that would be eligible for casino funds. Casino funds will continue to pay for our Hazardous Waste Roundup, Fairview Family Festival & Film Night, Bowling with Santa event, donations to our community partners (e.g. a $10,000 infrastructure donation is earmarked for In-Definite Arts), promotional materials and a maximum of 10% of casino funds go towards operating expenses. Other expenses that are under consideration include redevelopment of the former Flint Park playground site (landscape architect and infrastructure expenses) and a community marker sign.
